PIANIST AVE KRUUP WILL PERFORM IN GERMANY AND ROMANIA

In May, the young pianist Ave Kruup will give three concerts in Germany, introducing Estonian music. On May 2, she will perform at the opening of Estonian Festival in Stuttgart, Theater am Olgaeck. On May 5, Kruup will perform with Norbert Bögle who reads Estonian fairy-tales. On May 31, Ave Kruup will perform in Bad Wilbaden at the evening of Estonian culture which is organized by Evangelical Church.

The programme of all three concerts consists of “Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf”, “Butterfly” and “Dance of the Ducklings” from 4 Easy Dances for Piano and “Variations for the Healing of Arinushka” by Arvo Pärt, “Sketch 02” by Mari Vihmand, “Alla ballata” from 13 Pieces on Estonian Motifs and “Sheperd’s Song” by Heino Eller, a piece from Silent Moods by Eduard Oja and “Waltz” from the piano cycle In Spring by Rudolf Tobias.

On May 10, Ave Kruup will also perform music by Sergei Prokofiev, Frank Martin and Georg Böhm in Bukarest, Romania.

After graduating Tallinn Music High School and studying with Ivari Ilja and Matti Reimann at the Estonian Academy of Music, Ave Kruup has settled in Germany. In 2006, she graduated Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim and now she continues master studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe with Kalle Randalu. Especially known for her sensitive Bach-interpretations, Ave Kruup has successfully participated in a number of competitions; recently she was awarded with first prize at IX Jean Francaix Competition in Paris with the flutist Alessandra Russo. In 2005, Kruup won a scholarship of Wilhelm-Müller Stiftung and in 2007 she had a Deutsch-Estnische-Gesellschaft scholarship. Since 2007, Ave Kruup teaches piano in music schools of Ave Viernheim and Weisenhaim am Sand, since April 2008 she works as a concert master in Karlsruhe Music University.
