4th Tallinn Chamber Music Festival

Tallinn Chamber Music festival held from August 17 to 23, presents 14 concerts in Tallinn Town Hall, Swedish St. Michael’s Church, St. John’s Church and Tartu St. John’s Church. Estonian top interpreters perform world classic of chamber music, large-scale vocal works and in quantities of Estonian music.

Music by Estonian composers will be played at several concerts.
Arvo Pärt’s (1935) Summa and Fratres, Enn Võrk’s (1905-1962) String Quartet G-minor 2nd movement and Rudolf Tobias’s (1873-1918) String Quartet No. 2 3rd movement Nachtstück will be performed by string quartet Noobel Nelik on August 17 at 8 pm in Tallinn Town Hall.

Tõnu Kõrvits’s (1969) Songs from Thule will be performed by pianist Lea Leiten and flutist Oksana Sinkova on August 18 at 6 pm in Swedish St. Michael’s Church.

Heino Eller’s (1887-1970) Homeland Tune, Tobias’s Nachtstück and Jaan Rääts’s (1932) Concerto for chamber orchestra Op. 16 will be performed by string orchestra of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre on August 19 at 6 pm in Swedish St. Michael’s Church. In the same day, Pärt’s Da pacem Domine will be performed by Tallinn String Quartet in Tallinn Town Hall at 8 pm.

Galina Grigorjeva’s (1962) Prayer and In quattro quarti and Tõnu Kõrvits’s Chorales from Thule will be performed by Virgo Veldi (saxophone), Tiia Tenno (organ) and saxophone quartet SaxEst on August 21 at 6 pm in Tallinn St. John’s Church.

Artur Lemba’s (1885-1963) Mazurka will be performed by Norwegian musicians Michael Süssmann (violin) and Tor Erik Seime Pettersen (piano) in August 22 at 8 pm in Tallinn Town Hall.

Also Irina Zahharenkova (harpsichord), Indrek Vau (trumpet), Mati Mikalai (piano), Mihkel Poll (piano), Anna-Liisa Bezrodny (violin), Pille Lill (soprano), cello quartet C-JAM, Tartu St. John’s Church Chamber Choir, Tallinn Festival Chamber Orchestra, conductor Lilyan Kaiv and many others will perform at the festival.

In the gala concert on August 23, three awards will be given out: Marje and Kuldar Sink’s award “Young Singer“, Pille Lill Music Fund Patron Lord Carlisle award “Young Musician” and Vendor Estonia award “Young Conductor”.

Festival is organised by The PL EST Management in cooperation with Tallinn City Government, Estonian Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, artistic director is Pille Lill.
