New piece by Mirjam Tally in Italy

On September 4, Mirjam Tally’s Shift for large ensemble will be premiered in Palazzina Liberty, Stresa. The work will be performed by ensemble BIT20 (conductor Trond Korsgård) in the final concert of masterclass by Luca Francesconi and Irvine Arditti within the Stresa Festival. In addition to Tally’s piece, also new compositions by Oscar Bettison, Matias Giuliani, Jonathan Green, Janis Petraskevics and Martin Svensson will be performed.

Mirjam Tally (b. 1976) is Estonian composer who is experimenting with sound – her use of electronics is fresh and original, at the same time she is fond of Nordic and exotic folk instruments. Tally has graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music as a student of Lepo Sumera in 2000, in 2003 she obtained master degree. Since the autumn of 2006, Mirjam Tally lives and works in Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden.
