Mirjam Tally’s “Turbulence” in Venice Biennale

On October 2, Mirjam Tally’s orchestral work Turbulence (2006) will be performed in the opening concert of the International Festival of Contemporary Music of Venice Biennale. Concert in Teatro alle Tese will be given by Orchestra and Choir of Teatro La Fenice, Jie Shi (tenor) and Vito Priante (bass) under the baton of Eliahu Inbal. In addition to Tally’s work, world premiere of textile 2 by Lithuanin young composer Justė Janulytė, No hay caminos, hay que caminar…Andrej Tarkowskij by Luigi Nono and Canticum Sacrum ad honorem Sancti Marci nominis by Igor Stravinsky will be performed.

The 52nd International Festival of Contemporary Music of Venice Biennale will take place from 2 to 18 October and offers 34 concerts and presents 77 composers. Artistic director Luca Francesconi entitled festival as Roots/Future that marks composers of young or the mid-generation appearing alongside some great masters who have left their mark on 20th century music and beyond.

Turbulence will also participate on October 30 at the World Music Days in Vilnius where the work will be performed by Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra with Robertas Šervenikas conducting.
