Ester Mägi's Birthday Concert in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre

On January 10, a noted Estonian female composer Ester Mägi celebrated her 85th birthday. Mägi is the distinguished figure in Estonian music by the natural way she has interweaved national idiom with contemporary means of expression in her work. On January 18, a concert of Ester Mägi's chamber music will take place in Academy’s Chamber Hall in honour of the composer.

The programme of Ester Mägi's jubilee concert in EAMT includes "Vesper" for violin and piano (1990), piano cycle "Lapland joiks" (1987), Sonata for clarinet and piano (1985), chamber cycle "Duos in national idiom" for flute and piano (1983) and "Dialogues" for flute, clarinet, cello and piano (1976). The performers will be Jaan Krivel (clarinet), Hardo Killing (flute), Kalev Vaidla (cello), Nele-Eva Steinfeld (piano), Hanna-Liis Nahkur (violin), Thea Nestor (piano), Kristjan Part (clarinet), Liivi Arder (piano), Mari-Liis Lille (piano), Hendrik Soon (viiul) and Priidik Soon (flute).
