"In You, Void of Yourself" by Toivo Tulev to be premiered in Holland

On January 23 in Amsterdam Muziekgebouw, at the concert titled as Archipelago, Toivo Tulev's "In You, Void of Yourself" (2006) for two duduks, erhu, zheng and western ensemble will be premiered by the Atlas Ensemble.
Toivo Tulev, a composer of music with metaphysical undercurrents and influences of Oriental culture, has deserved international attention during the last decade. His new work is inspired by beautiful verses from the collection "Secret Rose Garden" by the Persian Sufi poet Mahmud Shabistari (1288–1340). The work is dedicated to the Atlas Ensemble.

The Atlas Ensemble is a co-operation project of the famous Holland Nieuw Ensemble with musicians from the Middle and Far East. The repertoire of the ensemble consists of commissioned works which bring together Eastern and Western musical traditions and instruments.
Beside Toivo Tulev's new opus also the works by Ishan Özgen (Turkey), Ken Ueno (USA), Stefano Bellon (Italy), Vache Sharafyan (Armenia), Joël Bons (Netherlands), Jing Xin (China) and Artjom Kim (Uzbekistan) will be premiered by Altlas Ensemble on January 23. In addition to the members of the Nieuw Ensemble, Gevorg Dabaghian (duduk), Naomi Sato (sho), Wu Wei (sheng), Fan Ran (zheng), Bassem Alkhouri (qanun) and Yan Jiemin (erhu) will perform under the conduction of Ed Spanjaard.
