Estonian Radio has chosen Anu Tali as the Musician of the Year 2006

On January 25, conductor Anu Tali was announced by Estonian Radio as the Musician of the Year. Chosen for the 25th time this year, the title Musician of the Year is ascribed to the musician having furthered Estonian musical culture and collaborated with Estonian Radio. The award was given to Anu Tali on January 25 at the Nordic Symphony Orchestra's concert in Estonia Concert Hall. The Musician of the Year 2005 was composer Olav Ehala.

Anu Tali (1972) has studied conducting with Jorma Panula (Finland) and Ilya Musin (Russia). In 1997, she an her sister Kadri Tali founded Estonian-Finnish Symphony Orchestra, currently – Nordic Symphony Orchestra, with whom she has released two CDs: "Swan Flight" (2002, Finlandia/Warner Classics) that earned the German Echo Classic Prize 2003 within the category Young Artist of the Year, and "Action. Passion. Illusion" (2005, Warner Classics). In 2004, Anu Tali was also given the Presidential Award of Estonia.
Anu Tali has conducted such outstanding orchestras as Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin and many others. In November 2007, Anu Tali and the Nordic Symphony Orchestra are to give the premiere of the new work by Erkki-Sven Tüür in Berlin Philharmonic Hall.
