New works by Malle Maltis and Märt-Matis Lill from the Ensemble Resonabilis

On February 17, two new Estonian works will be premiered by Ensemble Resonabilis in Tallinn Town Hall. The concert under the title „Vibe” presents "Snow silence" for voice and bolt instrument (lyrics: J. Kaplinski and I. Laaban) by Malle Maltis and "Sappho fragments" for voice, flute, Estonian zither and cello by Märt-Matis Lill.

The central instrument of the Ensemble Resonabilis is Estonian chromatic zither, accompanied by voice, flute, cello and, if necessary, other instruments. Rich timbre spectrum of the ensemble has fascinated composers both in Estonia and abroad.
In addition to the premiers of new Estonian works the Resonabilis concert programme also includes "Recitative" for voice, alto flute, Estonian zither and cello (2006; lyrics: I. Layton) by Age Hirv, "Ten haikus" for voice and piano (1966) by Veljo Tormis and "PSY" for flute, cello and zimbalom by Peter Eötvös (both works arranged for Estonian zither by Kristi Mühling) and chamber works of Krzysztof Penderecki and Jennifer Higdon.
At the concert in Tallinn Town Hall whole staff of the Ensemble Resonabilis is engaged: Kristi Mühling (zither), Iris Oja (mezzo soprano), Tarmo Johannes (flute) and Aare Tammesalu (cello).
