Estonian premiere of the Erkki-Sven Tüür's Piano Concerto

On February 23, the Estonian premiere of the Piano Concerto by Erkki-Sven Tüür (1959), one of the most noted Estonian composers, will take place in Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn. Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Olari Elts, the soloist being Thomas Larcher (Austria). The world premiere of the work was given by Thomas Larcher, fr-Sinfonieorchester and Paavo Järvi on November 22, 2006 in Frankfurt.

The world premiere of the Tüür's Piano Concerto in the autumn 2006 received a lot of press responses. Positive evaluations of the concerto's ebullient sound world have been reflected in numerous headlines: "Exiting dynamics" (Wiesbaden Kurier), "Colourful, virile and full of contrasts" (Maintal Tagesanzeiger), "Without a breather" (Frankfurter Neue Presse), "Ping pong with sounds" (Frankfurter Allgemeine), "Exuberant sound botanic" (Offenbach-Post) etc.
Beside the Piano Concerto of Erkki-Sven Tüür, Symphonic Dances (1957) by Eino Tamberg (b. 1930), an outstanding Estonian symphonist, will be performed on February 23 in Estonia Concert Hall.
