Nyyd Ensemble presents: Grigorjeva and Stravinsky

On March 3 in Tartu and March 4 in Tallinn, Nyyd Ensemble with Olari Elts will present a concert of the works by Galina Grigorjeva and Igor Stravinsky. At the concerts in Tartu and Tallinn, Grigorjeva's "Ant John J. Plenty and Fiddler Dan" (1991/2007), opera scenes for children, will be premiered. The programme also includes Igor Stravinsky's "Ragtime" (1918) for 11 instruments and "Renard" (1917), a stage work based on Russian fairy-tale. In addition, Igor Stravinsky's ballad "How the Mushrooms went to War" (1904, written for piano and bass) in Galina Grigorjeva's arrangement for the Nyyd Ensemble will be played.

Galina Grigorjeva (1962) is a composer persistently inspired by Russian saced music and folklore. In the season of 2006/2007 she is a composer in residence by the Nyyd Ensemble. Grigorjeva's opera scenes "Ant John J. Plenty and Fiddler Dan" were completed as a graduate work at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire.

The concerts of the Nyyd Ensemble will take place on March 3 in Tartu University Hall and on March 4 at Tallinn NO99 Theatre. Together with the Nyyd Ensemble also soloists Kaia Urb (soprano), Iris Oja (mezzo soprano), Mati Turi (tenor), Tiit Kogerman (tenor), Uku Joller (baritone) and Allan Vurma (bass) will perform.
