New work by Helena Tulve at Gallery ArtDepoo

On March 27, a new work "Silmaja" (2006) for solo zither will be premiered at the concert in Gallery ArtDepoo, Tallinn – the third event from the Ensemble Resonabilis' concert series "ReVisioon II" walking through Tallinn art galleries. The concert programme includes also "Snow silence") for voice and bolt instrument (2007, lyrics - J. Kaplinski and I. Laaban) by Malle Maltis, "Loss of oneself" for voice and alto flute (2002, lyrics - I. Laaban) by Age Hirv and works of Salvatore Sciarrino, Krzysztof Penderecki and Santa Ratniece. Exhibition of Eda Lõhmus' paintings titled "Upwards" forms a visual component of the event.

Ensemble "Resonabilis" was founded in 2002 by Tarmo Johannes and Kristi Mühling. The central instrument of the ensemble is Estonian chromatic zither accompanied by voice, flute, cello and, if necessary, other instruments. The main body of the Ensemble Resonabilis includes Kristi Mühling (zither), Iris Oja (mezzo soprano), Tarmo Johannes (flute) and Aare Tammesalu (cello).
Helena Tulve's "Silmajad" for three zithers was written for the opening of the KUMU Art Museum in February 2006. The same material was used by the composer for the later version for solo zither titled as "Silmaja", which was premiered by Kristi Mühling in September 2006 in Toronto, Canada.
The idea of the concert series "ReVisioon" combining art and music was born in spring 2006 when Ensemble Resonabilis performed at KUMU Art Musem. In season 200/2007 "ReVisioon II" has already walked through Tallinn Art Hall Gallery and Gallery Haus. The last concert of the series will take place in May in Vaal Gallery.
