International Choir Festival “Tallinn 2007”

Today at 6 p.m. the 10th International Choir Festival „Tallinn 2007” will be opened in Estonia Concert Hall. In April 19-22, 42 choirs from 10 countries are performing in Tallinn.

Choir festival „Tallinn” is biannual festival held at Tallinn that comprises concert series and contest. Festival is organised by Estonian Choral Association, the artistic director of the festival 2007 is Ants Soots.
Concerts will take place in Estonia Concert Hall and churches and schools in Tallinn. Old music as well as contemporary music, world classics and native repertoire will be performed. Festival will be ended up with the concert in Kuusalu Village Club where the Student Male Choir from Lund sings Veljo Tormis’s music.
Choir contest will be held in six categories: children and youth choirs, male and female choirs, mixed choirs, chamber choirs, Renaissance and Baroque music, contemporary music. The best choirs will participate in Grand Prix round. The choirs will be assessed by a 5-member international jury.
