Arvo Pärt’s and Cyrillus Kreek’s sacred choral music in Great Britain

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir is touring in Great Britain. In various concert places in England and Scotland sacred choral music by Estonian composers Arvo Pärt and Cyrillus Kreek will be performed under the direction of Paul Hillier, the artistic director and principal conductor of the EPCC.

From Estonian music, EPCC performs Arvo Pärt’s “Two Slavonic Psalms”, “Bogoroditse Devo” and “Da Pacem” as well as Cyrillus Kreek’s (1889–1962) David’s Psalms “Praise the Lord, O my soul”, “O Lord, I call to you” and “Blessed is the man”, and Requiem (organ part by Christopher Bowers-Broadbent). In the concert programme there are standing also parts of Rakhmaninov’s “All-Night Vigil” and British composer Tarik O’Regan’s “Scattered rhymes” (participating Orlando Consort).

On May 4, EPCC sang in Norwich Cathedral, on May 6 in Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh and May 7 in Perth Concert Hall (BBC Broadcast). On May 11, Kreek’s Requiem and Rakhmaninov’s „All-Night Vigil” will be performed in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
