10th Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration

From 29th June to 1st July the 10th Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration will take place in Tallinn. The celebration is called “On the doorstep of the world tree” and combines the song celebration theme “World tree” and dance celebration theme “On the doorstep”. At this year celebration there will be a record number of participants. 831 choirs with more than 21 000 singers, 127 dance groups with more than 7800 dancers will perform at Youth Celebration, plus 47 orchestras with more than 1600 instrumentalists and participants’ grown-up companions – 35 000 participants all together.

Youth Celebration will be opened on June 29 at 7 p.m on Kalevi stadium with the 1st show of the Dance Celebration. On June 30, the celebration will continue with Dance Celebration 2nd show at 11 a.m and the 3rd show at 4 p.m on Kalevi stadium. At 8 p.m there will be a party for all participants on Tallinn Song Celebration Grounds. On July 1 at 9 a.m starts the procession from Liberty Square and 1 p.m begins the Song Celebration concert on Tallinn Song Celebration Ground.

The artistic director of Youth Song Celebration “World tree” is Aarne Saluveer, the principal conductors are Annelii Traks (toddlers’ choirs), Ingrid Kõrvits (children’s choirs), Hirvo Surva (boys’ choirs), Andrus Siimon (youth male choirs), Raul Talmar (girls’ choirs), Peeter Perens (mixed choirs), Harry Illak (wind orchestras) and Jüri-Ruut Kangur (youth orchestras). Joint choirs will be conducted by Aarne Saluveer, Kuno Areng, Ants Soots, Hirvo Surva, Ene Üleoja, Alo Ritsing, Kadri Hunt, Eri Klas, Olari Elts and Tõnu Kaljuste. The artistic director of Dance Celebration “On the doorstep” is Maido Saar, musical directors are Indrek Kalda and Külli Tüli.
