Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform music by Tulev and Pärt at Gaida festival

On October 30 at 7 p.m. concert of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will take place in Vilnius St Catherine Church within festival Gaida. The programme includes “Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice” (2006) by Toivo Tulev, written in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and “Magnificat” (1989), “Dopo la vittoria” (1996/1998), “Da pacem” (2004), 2 Slavonic psalms (1984/1997), “Triodion” (1998) and “Nunc dimittis” (2001) by Arvo Pärt. In addition, „Aqauarelle” (2007) by young Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė will be premiered. The conductor is Paul Hillier.

Gaida is the biggest contemporary music festival in Lithuania that is held in Vilnius every year since 1991. Many reputable musical collectives and conductors all over the world have participated in Gaida. This year’s festival focuses on human voice which possibilities will be presented by Fátima Miranda, David Moss, Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart and Sarah Leonard with Michael Nyman Band among athers.

Estonian Philharmony Chamber Choir’s next concert will take place on November 2 at 7 p.m. in Tallinn St. Nicholas’ Church. Together with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste “Kreek’s notebook” (2007) by Tõnu Kõrvits and Requiem (1994) by Erkki-Sven Tüür will be performed. Concert is organized by Tallinn Philharmonic Society.
