World premiere of new piece by Erkki-Sven Tüür in Australia

On November 3, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s „Whistles and Whispers from Uluru” for recorder and orchestra will be premiered in Canberra Theatre, Australia. The piece, inspired by one of the Australian symbols Uluru rock, will be performed by recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey and Australian Chamber Orchestra with Richard Tognetti conducting. Tüür’s new piece will be played in the composer’s presence in several places in Australia: on November 4 and 5 in Melbourne, November 6 in Adelaide, November 7 in Perth, November 11, 13, 14 and 17 in Sydney, November 12 in Thirroul, November 15 in Newcastle and November 18 in Brisbane.

The programme of tour concerts consists also the world premiere of James Ledger’s trio “To those who collected the past” and music by Corelli, Telemann and Verdi.

Coming performances of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s works:

Symphony No. 6 “Strata”, premiered in May 2007 in Tallinn, will be performed again by Nordic Symphony Orchestra and conductor Anu Tali on November 22 in Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn, November 14 in Berlin Philharmonie and November 15 in Herkulessaal, München. Orchestra’s season opening concert programme includes also „Introduction et Rondo cappricciosos” by Saint-Saëns and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6.

„Oxymoron” will be played by Scottish Chamber Orchestra with Olari Elts conductong on November 16 in Glasgow City Halls and November 17 in Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh.
