New piece by Ülo Krigul from the Ensemble Resonabilis

Ülo Krigul’s “Meine ernste Wandlungen” for voice, flute, Estonian zither kannel and cello (2007) on Ernst Jandl’s text will be premiered on November 2 at 6 p.m. in Tallinn Town Hall at the concert of Ensemble Resonabilis.

With this concert, the ensemble celebrates its 5th birthday. The ensemble with unique selection of instruments is staffed by Iris Oja (voice), Kristi Mühling (kannel), Tarmo Johannes (flute) and Aare Tammesalu (cello). Composers from Estonia and abroad have written for Resonabilis to create a new repertoire: Margo Kõlar, Tatjana Kozlova, Kristjan Kõrver, Age Hirv, Märt-Matis Lill, Malle Maltis, Daan Manneke (Netherlands), Antti Auvinen (Finland), Santa Ratniece (Latvia), David Helbich (Germany). One of the important aims for the ensemble is to perform such pieces of western contemporary classics that are not often played in Estonian concert halls.

Beside Krigul’s piece, jubilee concert presents also the first piece specially written for this ensemble – “Florete flores” for voice, flute, kannel and cello (2002) by Kristjan Kõrver, “Vertical song I” for solo flute (1995) by Toshio Hosokawa, “Silmaja” for solo kannel (2006) by Helena Tulve, “Enchanted preludes” for flute and cello (1988) by Elliot Carter and “Cinq Calme-plats” for female voice (1992) by Georges Aperghis.
