New works by Urmas Sisask and Lauri Jõeleht in the programme of the Orthodox Singers

On November 23 at 7 p.m. the Orthodox Singers’ concert “In Your Kingdom…” of Orthodox music by Estonian composers will take place in Tallinn Swedish St. Michael’s Church, where Urmas Sisask’s “Ikos” Op. 111 for violin, cello, organ, church bell, soloists and mixed choir and Lauri Jõeleht’s “Trisagion” for chamber choir will be premiered.

In addition, Orthodox Singers will perform parts of “Kanon Pokajanen” by Arvo Pärt, music by Valeri Petrov and “Antiphones” and “In Your Kingdom…” by Andres Uibo, who will participate in the concert also as an organist.

Orthodox Singers was founded by its conductor and artistic director Valeri Petrov in 1989. The main repertoire of the Orthodox Singers is early Orthodox chant, but also includes contemporary music (John Tavener, Valeri Kalistratov and others) as well as music by Estonian composers (Cyrillus Kreek, Kuldar Sink, Veljo Tormis, Arvo Pärt, Galina Grigorjeva and others). The choir has toured Russia, USA, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, Great Britain, France, Ireland, Lebanon, Hungary, Poland etc.

Works by Sisask and Jõeleht are written specially for this concert.
