Toivo Tulev’s choral work “Jusquez au printemps” will be premiered soon

Toivo Tulev’s new choral work “Jusquez au printemps” (“When Spring comes”) on the texts of the chansons by Josquin des Prez will be premiered soon by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir. Besides Tulev’s work, new programme of the EPCC titled “Tulev. Britten. Poulenc” includes “Hymn to St. Cecilia” and “A Hymn to the Virgin” by Benjamin Britten, and the Mass by Francis Poulenc.

Previous years Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has performed some Toivo Tulev’s other works: “And then in silence there with me be only You” (2002), “Sans mesure” (2004) and “Songs”, commissioned by Paul Hillier, present artistic director and principal conductor of the EPCC, and performed at the international new music festival NYYD ’05.

The new programme of the Estonian Philharmonic Choir will be performed Saturday, February 25 in Tartu St. Johns’ Church, and Sunday, February 26 in Tallinn St Nicholas’ Church. EPCC will be conducted by Paul Hillier.
