Estonian new music in the programme of the International Harpsichord Days

New and earlier harpsichord works by Estonian composers Raimo Kangro, Kristjan Kõrver, Robert Jürjendal, Anti Marguste and Peeter Vähi will be performed at the Fifth International Harpsichord Days held from April 6 to 11 in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, Viljandi and Türi.

Contemporary harpsichord works by Estonian composers are included in the programme of the concert held on April 8 at the KUMU Art Museum, Tallinn, where Robert Jürjendal’s “Flowers, cardigans and information” (2006) for two harpsichords, Kristjan Kõrver’s “Toccata” and Anti Marguste’s “Ülejalatants” (2006) for harpsichord, and the later’s “Concerto piccolo” (2006) for trumpet, harpsichord and jazz-drums will be premiered. In addition to the new works, Raimo Kangro’s “Display IV” (“Portrait of an unknown musician”, 1992) for flute, cello and harpsichord and “Display VI” (“Portrait of an ufonaut”, 1994) for two harpsichords as well as Peeter Vähi’s “Four Engravings Of Reval ” (1988) for flute, violin, viola, cello and harpsichord will performed. In Estonian new harpsichord music, traditional sound world of the instrument is enriched by video show and electronic mixtures.
At the concert harpsichord players Ene Nael, Reinut Tepp and Imbi Tarum, flutist Monika Mattiesen, cellist Aare Tammesalu (tšello), trumpet player Priit Aimla and many others will perform.

Beside Estonian harpsichord players Imbi Tarum, Reinut Tepp, Marju Riisikamp, Irén Lill, Ene Nael and others, Lars Ulrik Mortensen from Denmark and Skip Sempé from USA will perform the work by old masters of the harpsichord music.
The organiser of the Harpsichord Days is Estonian Harpsichord Friends Society, the Artistic Director of the festival is Imbi Tarum.
