October 4–7, the Autumn Festival of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre took place for the eighth time. Main guest of the festival was composer Louis Andriessen (Netherlands) whose music was performed by EAMT comtemporary music ensemble and EAMT chamber orchestra.
The festival program also included new works by composition students of the EAMT (Juhan Vihterpal, Aile Alveus, Liisa Hirsch, Genri Tron, Mait Jüriado, Juliana Kuklin, Vsevolod Pozdejev, Hideyuki Nishimura, Mariliis Valkonen, Veljo Värk, Elo Masing) and works of State Academy of Music and Drama Hamburg students and teachers.
The main focus of the Autumn Festival is contemporary music. The first festival in 1999 celebrated the opening of the new building of the Academy. Since 2002 it has been an international festival.
