Festival news 2007: „Beethoven and Pärt: voices of the soul”

On October 10, the presentation of the programme of the noted Italian music Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Festival 2007 took place in Tallinn. About twenty festival impresarios and Italian journalists participated in the presentation along with composer Arvo Pärt and his biographer, musicologist Enzo Restagno.

The 44th International Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Festival will be held from April 14 to June 12 in Brescia and Bergamo, Italy. Dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven and Arvo Pärt, the festival is titled as “Beethoven, Pärt: voices of the soul”.

A special programme of the music by Arvo Pärt compiled by the composer himself will be performed on May 19 and 20 by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste. Besides the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with George Pretre and French National Orchestra with Kurt Masur, the performers list of the coming festival include such renowned musicians as pianists Salvatore Accardo, Evgenij Kissin, Leif Ove Andsnes, Fazil Say, Andre Lucchesini and Grigory Sokolov, as well as conductors Neville Marriner and Pier Carlo Orizio.
