“…in these gardens” by Tõnu Kõrvits in Ohio Northern University

On November 4, the Ohio Northern University (ONU) Symphony Orchestra with Lloyd Butler conducting gives a concert “Sounds of silence” that commemorates the devastation and rebuilding of Estonian Republic. Beside other works, the programme of the concert includes “… in these gardens” for saxophone and string orchestra by renowned Estonian composer Tõnu Kõrvits. The soloist of the performance is Virgo Veldi – a recognized Estonian saxophone player.

“… in these gardens” by Kõrvits was premiered by Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Virgo Veldi at the Estonian Music Days Festival in 2005. At the concert in honour of the independent Estonia, also Concerto for saxophone and orchestra in E flat (1934) by Alexandre Glazunov and the “The book of lamentations” (2006, premiere) by Yehezkel Braun will be performed. The event will take place at the ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts in Ohio, U.S.A.
