Helena Tulve’s “Stream” premiered in Seattle

On October 29, the opening concert of the Seattle Chamber Players’ new season took place in Seattle Benaroya Hall. The concert, titled "Northern Stars: Baltic Voices II”, presented seven world premieres by seven composers from different countries, including the “Stream” by Estonian composer Helena Tulve. The Seattle Times music critic Melinda Bargreen characterized Tulve’s work as „full of tiny, lapidary details in a whole repertoire of subtle sounds: breaths, taps, whistles, trills, delicate percussive effects — a wonderful sonic spectrum.”

Besides Tulve´s „Stream”, works by Peter Bruun (Denmark), Sergei Dmitriev (Sweden), Pär Lindgren (Sweden), Igor Kefalidis (Russia), Onuté Narbutaité (Lithuania) and Uljas Pulkkis (Finland) were premiered. In November and December, the Seattle Chamber Players will play the same program on their concert tour in Turin, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Moscow. The commissioning project will be recorded and a CD will be released.
