New work by Mirjam Tally in the programme of the Reval Ensemble

On November 25, Mirjam Tally’s „Line” for flute, cello and piano (2006) will be premiered by the Reval Ensemble in Tallinn Town Hall. At the concert titled as „Dancing odalisque”, also „Wanderer's song” for cello (2003) and „Solano” for alto flute, cello and piano (2003) by Tõnu Kõrvits, chamber cycle „Odalisques” (1999) and „Two pieces from the year 1981” for piano by Lepo Sumera, and pieces from piano cycles „Pleiades” (1989) and „Southern sky” (1995) by Urmas Sisask will be performed. The programme includes choreography by Iris Frolov, specialised in Oriental dance styles.

Founded in 1999, the Reval Ensemble performs mainly contemporary music. Artistic director and cellist Aare Tammesalu, flutist Neeme Punder and pianist Lea Leiten form the core of the group.

Mirjam Tally's (b. 1976) musical idiom is characterized by playful sound contrasts combining lyrical and humorous imagery. Since today, she is primarily the author of chamber and electronic works. From 2006, she lives and works as freelance composer in Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden.
