New CD with Olav Ehala's Music

Yet another album by Olav Ehala has been added to Estonian Treasury of Music series. The double CD of the composer's music consists of his 47 best songs ever, including extracts from following plays: „Thijl Ulenspiegel”, „Johnny”, „The Losers” and films: „Don Juan in Tallinn”, „The Imp”, „Caroline's Silver Clasp”.

Olav Ehala is appriciated in Estonian music for warm-hearted songs and as an author of incidental music. His sound world is recognisable to many generations. He has been awarded international prizes for his music for animated films („Time out”, „Lunch on the Grass”, „Departure”, „Papa Carlo’s Theatre”, „Hotel E”).In 1997, Olav Ehala was given the Estonian cultural prize „Suur Vanker”. In 2005, he was ascribed Estonian Music Council’s Composition Prize, Estonian Radio chose him as the Musician of the Year 2005. Olav Ehala is a professor at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, he is head of the Estonian Composers’ Union and is also active as a pianist.
