Estonian National Male Choir performs new Estonian choir music

On The 16th of November in Estonia Concert Hall (Tallinn), Estonian National Male Choir will perform the newest works of Estonian contemporary composers René Eespere, Anti Marguste, Robert Jürjendal and Tõnu Kõrvits. The programme, called “The Missioners”, concentrates on Estonian nationality and identity issues.

The poem by Anti Marguste “A walk to the Tallinn Town Hall”, Op. 91 for male choir and piano duo was composed on the admonition texts of Tallinn aldermen, dated 1651.

The “Incantation and prayer” by René Eespere for the Gregorian chant ensemble, male choir and piano presents the Latin texts of “Henrici Chronicon Livoniae” and the texts by the composer himself.

“The Paradox of Our Age” by Robert Jürjendal for male choir, male vocal quartet, instrumental trio and percussion, uses the texts of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Work for male choir by Tõnu Kõrvits “Songs of Rain and Sun” was inspired by the Estonian folklore.

Estonian National Male Choir, ensemble “Vox Clamantis”, ”Weekend Guitar Trio” (Robert Jürjendal, Tõnis Leemets, Mart Soo), vocal quartet “Improloo” (Priit Lehto, Kristjan Laasimer, Rene Keldo, Aare Kruusimäe) and pianists Irina Ievleva and Siim Selis will be guided by conductor Ants Soots.
