New CD with the choir works by Urmas Sisask and Veljo Tormis

Mixed Choir “Noorus” (Youth) has produced a brand new CD “Secret Wife” with the music by Urmas Sisask and Veljo Tormis on the society-critical texts of poet Hando Runnel. The recording presents also the prose texts of Estonian poet Sven Kvisildnik (interpreted by actress Katariina Lauk). These texts discuss the naked truth of life – as the poet himself describes them.

With the support of Estonian Cultural Endowment, the great number of the CD-s will be distributed to Estonian schools, libraries and other institutions all over Estonia, in order to introduce the works of Estonian composers and poets to the younger generation of listeners.

Mixed Choir “Noorus” was founded in 1959, and at the present consists of thirty choir singers. The conductor of the choir is Mr. Raul Talmar. The members of the choir are mostly the students of different colleges in Tallinn. The choir has premiered several
Estonian new choir works and have been the choir in mind for several Estonian composers (Alo Mattiisen, Mart Siimer, Urmas Sisask), hence dedicated their choir pieces especially to the choir. Mixed choir “Noorus” have participated in numerous international choir music contest and festivals all over Europe.
