Türi Spring Festival

Nature in music, music in nature, music and nature in and around us all.

From May 12 to 15, Türi Spring Festival will take place for the fifth time. Türi is well known as the Estonian Springtime Capital. This year the nature-themed music festival is focusing to starry sky and universe. The program of the festival presents concerts of music inspired from starry sky, several lectures about universe, photo exhibition on the theme of astronomy, starry sky observations, guided walks to museums, animated film workshop and other events.

The four concerts of the festival will feature Türi Chamber Choir (conductors Tiiu Schüts and Kuldar Schüts), Estonian Music Teachers’ Symphony Orchestra conducted by Lilyan Kaiv (soloists Anni Ruugla – flute, Leevi Nielson – violin, piano duo Nataly Sakkos – Toivo Peäske) and Duo Gemini – André Henrich (baroque lute, France) and Holger Faust-Peters (viola da gamba, Germany). Urmas Sisaks’s flute concerto Leonids, Op. 78 and violin concerto Peresids, Op. 65 and Gustav Holst’s orchestral suite The Planets will be performed among other works. Concerts will be held at Türi Church, Türi Culture House and Laupa manor.

Alongside the concerts there will be different lectures by Kalev Rajangu, Indrek Kolka and German musicologist and hobby astronomer Walter Stephani in the series Night University of the Estonian Public Broadcasting Eesti Raadio. The guided walks will take to Home Museum of composer Mart Saar in Hüpassaare and star tower Orion in Olustvere.
