Festival „Mirror in Mirror“ in Moscow

The festival „Mirror in Mirror“ („Zerkalo v zerkale“) in Moscow, taking place from September 27 to 29, presents the music by Estonian, Georgian, and Russian composers. The special guest of the festival is the pianist Kadri-Ann Sumera.

The opening concert on September 27 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception features the festival orchestra with Andres Mustonen conducting. The programme includes Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No. 4 and Giya Kancheli’s „Silent Prayer“. Before the concert, Kadri-Ann Sumera will talk about the music of her father, Lepo Sumera at the Russian Composers Union.

The chamber music concert on September 28 at the Marina Tsvetaeva’s Museum features Estonian and Russian musicians Diana Liiv (piano), Olga Voronova (violin), Leho Karin (cello), Tähe-Lee Liiv (piano), Aglaja Golubeva (oboe), and Denis Golubev (oboe) who will play music by Arvo Pärt, Heino Eller, Galina Grigorjeva and Lepo Sumera among others.

The final concert on September 29 at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul features ensemble Hortus Musicus who will perform works by Arvo Pärt, Raimo Kangro, Tõnis Kaumann, Valentin Silvestrov, and Lepo Sumera.

The „Mirror in Mirror“ festival, which was set up for the first time in 2015 in the honour of the 80th anniversary of Arvo Pärt, is organized by Moscow State Conservatory, Estonian Embassy in the Russian Federation, Foundation for Development of Creative Initiatives, Agency proMotion, and NGO Kammermuusikud. Festival is directed by Denis Golubev.
