The presentation of CD of Arvo Pärt by Vox Clamantis in New York

Record label ECM has released Arvo Pärt’s author’s CD „The Deer’s Cry“ with the vocal music of Arvo Pärt performed by ensemble Vox Clamantis and its conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve. Presentation concerts of this CD took place in Estonia last week within the festival Arvo Pärt Days. On September 18, presentation will take place also in New York St. Francis Xavier Church marking at the same time the final visit of the President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, to the United States. This will be followed by a reception by the Estonian Head of State. The purpose of the concert and high-level reception is to support the distribution of the works or Arvo Pärt among the US audience and to enhance the awareness of Estonia among musical, political and economic circles.

Album consists of works like „The Deer’s Cry“, „Da pacem Domine“, „Von Angesicht zu Angesicht“, „Alleluja-Tropus“, „Virgencita“, „Drei Hirtenkinderaus Fátima“, „And one of the Pharisees...“, „Most Holy Mother of God“, „Sei gelobt, du Baum“, „Habitare fratres in unum“ (premiere recording), „Summa“ and „Gebet nach dem Kanon“. In addition to Vox Clamantis, also Mari Poll (violin), Johanna Vahermägi (vioola), Heikko Remmel, Taavo Remmel (double basses), Robert Staak (lute), Toomas Vavilov (clarinet) and Susanne Doll (organ). „The Deer’s Cry“ was recorded in the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Tallinn, in the autumn of 2013 and 2014. The album was engineered by Igor Kirkwood and Margo Kõlar, Helena Tulve was recording superviser, it was mastered by Manfred Eicher and Christoph Stickel, and produced by Manfred Eicher.
