Oboist Kalev Kuljus performs in Japan

  On August 19, the Estonian born, Germany-based oboist Kalev Kuljus performs within the annual IDRS (International Double-Reed Association) conference-festival, which this year takes place in Tokyo. The closing Gala-Concert, taking place on August 19 at 5.30 pm at Arts Building Large Hall, features several renowned soloists in fornt of the IDRS 2015 annual conference festival orchestra. Kuljus will perform Oboe Concerto in C major KV 314 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the program also consists of music by André Jolivet, Daniel Kellogg, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Eugène Goossens, Henri Tomasi and Carl Maria von Weber. Conductors are Gordon Hunt and Yuko Tanaka.

The IDRS 2015 conference, held from August 15–19 in Tokyo, is an international festival where double reed players and music fans from around the world get together. The conference is a five-day event including various concerts (orchestral and chamber music) by leading double reed artists from around the world, international competitions, master classes, lectures, workshops, and vender exhibits.

Additionally, Kalev Kuljus will perform with Jaime González (oboe), Hanno Dönneweg (bassoon), Eriko Wakita (harpsichord), Ryutaro Hei (double bass) and Akiko Sato (lute) on August 21 at 7 pm at Suntory Hall within chamber music series Farbe Konzert. The concert, organised in cooperation with  IDRS 2015 and music instrument manufacturer JOSEF, features baroque music by Johann F. Fasch, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Friedrich Händel.
