Premieres of Estonian young composers in Netherlands and New York

On November 15, two new choral works will be premiered: Riho Esko Maimets’s „Magnificat“ in Hague and Jonas Tarm’s „Aeg“ in New York.

Maimets’s „Magnificat“ will be perfmormed by Dutch chamber choir Kwintessens in Hague Agneskerk, concert will be repeated on November 22 in Hague Noordekerk. Concert titled as Nordic Inspiration consists of music from Nordic and Baltic countries including Estonian authors like Veljo Tormis, Urmas Sisask, Cyrillus Kreek, Pärt Uusberg and Arvo Pärt. Coir is conducted by Raoul Boesten.

This Saturday also Jonas Tarm’s new choral piece „Aeg“ presented  by  New York Virtuoso Singers, will have its world premiere in at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. Jonas Tarm’s new choral piece „Aeg“ (Estonian for „Time“) was commissioned by the New York Virtuoso Singers. The lyrics have been  taken from the well-known poem by the beloved Estonian poet Artur Alliksaar, „Aeg“ („Time“). The New York Virtuoso Singers was founded in 1988 by conductor Harold Rosenbaum, and it has become one of the leading exponents of contemporary choral music in the United States. The concert will also feature other world premieres by young composers, recent winners of the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award.
