Cantores Vagantes

The early music studio Cantores Vagantes started work in 1989, and consists of musicians whose desire is to interpret early music using copies of original instruments, and respecting historical performance practice. The members of the studio are not a fixed group of people, but can rather be seen as a group of professional friends, where the number of players depends on the needs of the music. Artistic directors and core members of the ensemble are Reet Sukk and Taavi-Mats Utt.

During 24 years of practice, many great performers have been good partners for the ensemble, among them hapsichordists Reinut Tepp, Imbi Tarum, Lembit Orgse, Marju Riisikamp and Iren Lill, organists Ene Salumäe and Tiia Tenno, violinists Anu Gehlert, Elo Tepp and Meelis Orgse, baroque bassoon players Kaido Suss and Peeter Sarapuu, cellist Egmont Välja, viola da gamba players Peeter Klaas and Roland Lill, as well as singers Hele-Mall Leego (soprano) and Veikko Kiiver (tenor), Lilian Langsepp (baroque harp), Robert Staak (lute) and Ele Raik (oboe). As foreign guests: Alise Juška, Julia Lurje, Pavel Andrejev, Jari S. Puhakka, Jeanette van Wingerden, Fumitaka Saito and Diego Nadra.

The repertoire of the ensemble comprises music from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, including works by Italian, French, German, English, Spanish and Dutch composers.
