NYYD Ensemble

The NYYD Ensemble is Estonia's most prominent contemporary music ensemble.
It was founded in 1993 by its artistic director and conductor Olari Elts. The staff of the ensemble ranges from one musician to a chamber orchestra.

The repertoire of the NYYD Ensemble includes 20th century music from Debussy and Schönberg to Tan Dun and Heiner Goebbels. Estonian composers such as Eino Tamberg, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Tõnu Kõrvits, Märt-Matis Lill, Jüri Reinvere, Helena Tulve, Toivo Tulev and Mari Vihmand play an important role in the ensemble's concert programmes. The ensemble has also performed pieces by Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre’s composition students.

The NYYD Ensemble regularly performs abroad and has also been invited to renowned contemporary music festivals (The Warsaw Autumn, MaerzMusik, Aterforum Ferrera, Gaida, etc.)
