This Friday, on February 28, the new work by Tauno Aints, Concerto for Accordion and Chamber Orchestra will receive its premiere in Helsinki, Finland.
The Concerto was commissioned by accordionist Mikk Langeproon who will be the soloist in the new piece. Langeproon will perform the Concerto together with the Helsinki Chamber Orchestra under James Salomon Kahane. The concert at the Temppeliaukio Church also features music by Uuno Klami, Einojuhani Rautavaara, and Dmitri Shostakovich.
Mikk Langeproon (1995) is a promising Estonian accordionist of the younger generation. He has participated successfully in various competitions in Estonia and abroad. Langeproon gained wider recognition in 2016 while he participated in the Estonian TV competition „Classical Stars“ („Klassikatähed“) for young classical artists. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
