Festival of Estonian Culture in Nantes

Tomorrow, festival of Estonian culture will launch in France. Festival „eLU, Vivre l’Estonie à Nantes“ takes place from December 5 to 15 and is organised by centre for contemporary arts Le Lieu Unique in cooperation with several local partners, Estonian Embassy in Paris, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. Program includes author concert of composer Evelin Seppar and concert of Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, festival Tallinn Music Week will introduce several Estonian musicians.

On December 5, Evelin Seppar’s author concert will take place in Le Lieu Unique. Her choral music will be performed by choir of Nantes Conservatory (conductor Valérie Fayet). Vocal ensemble Macadam Ensemble under the direction of Étienne Ferchaud will give the first performance of Seppar’s Lighthouse for eight singers, harp and percussion. Text of this works has been put together by composer using poems of E.E.Cummings and excerpts of diaries of Patrick James Dillon, the 19th century Canadian lighthouse keeper. Concert features also Lucie Berthomier (harp) and Guy-Loup Boisneau (percussion).

On December 15, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the baton of Tõnu Kaljuste will give concert in La Cité des Congrès de Nantes, performing Arvo Pärt’s Kanon Pokajanen.

Festival Tallinn Music Week presents Estonian musicians in several days: Maarja Nuut and Silver Sepp (December 5), Mari Kalkun and Odd Hugo (December 6), Janek Murd and Aivar Tõnso (December 12), Vul Vulpes (Mari-Liis Rebane) and Aivar Tõnso (December 13).

Festival program includes also film program, theatre performances, exhibitions, seminars.
