Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir’s concerts in Estonian villages

From June 6 to 11, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with Mikk Üleoja conducting will give eight concerts entitled as ...My Happiness and Joy in churches of Estonian villages. Concerts are dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Estonian Republic.

Programme consists of Estonian choral music since the mid-19th century up to nowadays which reflects identity and patriotism of Estonians. Among works by Aleksander Kunileid, Mart Saar, Ester Mägi, Lembit Veevo, Anti Marguste and Mart Siimer, the central piece is choir concerto The Tower Bell in My Village by Veljo Tormis. It was composed for the concert tour of chamber choir Ellerhein in 1978. Additionally, actress Anu Lamp will read the texts of Karl Ernst von Baer, Matthias Johann Eisen, Viivi Luik, Anton Hansen Tammsaare, Lennart Meri and Juhan Viiding.

Concerts will take place:
June 6 at 5 pm in Reigi Church and 8 pm in Emmaste Church, Island of Hiiumaa
June 7 at 4 pm in Kihelkonna Church and 8 pm in Kaarma Church, Island of Saaremaa
June 8 at 5 pm in Valjala Church and 8 pm in Muhu Church, Island of Saaremaa
June 10 at 7 pm in Viimsi St. Jacob Church
June 11 at 7 pm in Harju-Madise St. Matthias Church
