From 28 October to 18 November, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will be touring for the second time in the United States. ENSO will give 15 concerts in the cities both on the East and West Coast: Santa Barbara, California, Northridge, California, Stanford, California, Aliso Viejo, California, Ames, Iowa, La Crosse, Wisconsin, South Bend, Indiana, East Lansing, Michigan, New York, New York, Troy, New York, West Palm Beach, Florida, Gainesville, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Daytona Beach, Florida. The tour concerts will be conducted by Neeme Järvi, current principal conductor and artistic director of the orchestra, Nikolai Alexeev, former principal conductor, and Anu Tali, who has been appointed principal conductor of the Sarasota Orchestra starting this season. Soloists include cellists Narek Hakhnazaryan and Estonian Silver Ainomäe.
The program consist of Overture No. 2 by Veljo Tormis, Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, In principio and Da pacem Domine by Arvo Pärt, Symphony No. 5 in E flat major by Jean Sibelius, Symphony No. 2 in D major by Johannes Brahms, Cello Concerto in B minor by Antonín Dvořák, Symphony No. 5 in e minor by Pyotr Tchiakovsky. At the concert at New York Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, home to the New York Philharmonic, ENSO will perform with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, who is touring the USA at the same time.
The first concert tour of ENSO in the United States took place in March 2009, where 18 concerts were given.
