Erkki-Sven Tüür’s orchestral music in Germany, Sweden and Denmark

On October 13 and 14, Erkki-Sven Tüür’s accordion concerto Prophecy (2007) will receive performances in Germany. The first performers of this piece – accordion soloist Mika Väyrynen and conductor Olari Elts – are in front of the Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester Hannover this time. The program of Staatsoper Hannover subscription concert includes also music by John Adams, Franz Liszt/John Adams and Dmitri Shostakovich.

The famed piece for string orchestra – Illusion (1993) will be performed four times by one of the Swedish leading chamber orchestras Camerata Nordica under the baton of Jan Söderblom. Concerts will take place on January 19 in Malmö St. Petri church, January 20 in Copenhagen Holmens church, January 21 in Kalmar Castle and January 22 in Oskarshamn church. Concert will feature also Ensemble SYD and works by Brett Dean, Alfred Schnittke, Henry Purcell and Carlo Gesualdo.
