Ensemble Una Corda presents its first CD with Estonian music

On January 28 at 2 pm, ensemble Una Corda will present its first CD at Old Town Music House (Uus Str. 16c). The CD consists of original works as well as Una Corda’s arrangements of Estonian works from last century. Among original works written for Una Corda there are Helena Tulve’s Beholders and Mirjam Tally’s Line, also solo works like Mirjam Tally’s Structures for kannel, Liis Viira’s Pendulum for harp and Rein Rannap’s Variations for harpsichord. Una Corda has made arrangements from works that belong to treasury of Estonian music such as Ester Mägi’s A tre, Cyrillus Kreek’s Blessed Is the Man, Peeter Süda’s Gigue à la Bach and Heino Eller’s Bells.

Una Corda (’one string’ in Italian) is an ensemble with a unique instrumentation: harp, kannel and harpsichord – three multi-string instruments. Inspite of the different historical backround and characteristic timbres, they are similar in terms of creating the sound by plucking. The members of ensemble are Liis Viira (harp), Ene Nael (harpsichord) and Kristi Mühling (kannel). Works are recorded by Klassikaraadio, sound producers were Maido Maadik, Aili Jõeleht and Tanel Klesment.
