Days of Arvo Pärt in Czech

From November 1 to 11, Hradec Králové Music Forum will be held in Czech, where November 2–4 is dedicated to the composer Arvo Pärt. Music days include an exhibition, film evening and several concerts.

On Wednesday an exhibition Arvo Pärt Known and Unkown will be opened in the foyer of Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra Hall. Exposition was put together by Estonian Theatre and Music Museum.
On November 3, 24 Preludes For a Fugue – Dorian Supin’s documentary of Arvo Pärt will be shown in Artcinema Central.
During the day of November 4, celebration of canonical hours (A Liturgy of the Hours) will be held in Cathedral of the Holy Ghost and Chapel of Saint Climent where vocal ensemble Gentelmen Singers and organist Kateřina Chroboková will perform Pärt’s vocal and organ works at seven concerts.
In the evening of November 4, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will give a concert of Pärt’s symphonic music in Hradec Králové Philharmonic Hall. The program consists of Necrology, Symphony No. 3 and Lamentate. Piano soloist is Estonian pianist Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann, conductor is Kaspar Zehnder. Concert is held under the auspices of the Estonian Embassy in Prague.

The artistic director of Music Forum, Vítezslav Mikeš, has introduced Estonian music in Czech earlier as well – in cooperation with Estonian Music Information Centre, Czech music magazine His Voice issue in September 2010 focused on Estonian music with the CD produced by EMIC.

Concerts at the Music Forum will be broadcast live on Czech Radio’s program Vltava.
