Collegium Musicale sings in memoriam John Tavener

On 4th of February at 19 pm concert of Collegium Musicale will take place at Tallinn St. Nicholas' Church. The concert is dedicated to Great Britan’s composer John Tavener, who departed last year. The program „In memoriam Johm Tavener“ concist of Travener’s most famous a capella works „The Lamb“ and „Song for Athene“. Conductor is Endrik Üksvärav.

Concert will take place as a part of MustonenFest. In addition to Collegium Musicale, performesrs also include  Hortus Musicus, Girl’s Choir Ellerhein, string quartet „Prezioso“ and soloists Kädi Plaas (soprano) and Tõnis Kaumann (baritone). The artistic director of the concert is conductor Andres Mustonen.

Chamber Choir Collegium Musicale was founded in October 2010 by the initiative of the Estonian conductor Endrik Üksvärav. The aim is to offer for the audience high level musical emotions both in Estonia and abroad.  There are 27 members in the choir. All of them enjoy singing with the energy and passion! They have in common the vitality and enthusiasm and professionalism with which they perform in concerts.
The repertoire includes choral music from renaissance up to contemporary music: Gesualdo, Schütz, Bach, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Debussy, Messiaen, Rautavaara, A. Pärt, V. Tormis etc. The singers adeptness and timber makes possible to perform the repertoire from early classic to the pop-music pieces. The works of Estonian composers (Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür etc) have the special place in the choir´s repertoire.
Audiences have come to expect high standards at every concert, for the simple reason that the singers performing on stage are there to make music at the highest level possible, making each concert a true event.
