Estonian Music Days

10.04.2017
Location: Georg Ots Tallinn Music School Hall
Time: 17:00

Young Composer 2017 is a competition aimed at youth aged 12–23. It is organised by the Estonian Composers’ Union and the Creative Laboratory. The competition is an extension of the summer school for young composers and is meant to provide exposure to and feedback from professionals. During the Estonian Music Days, the competition’s second round (that is also the final one) will take place, during which three best works will be selected and prizes will be announced. This year, the requirement is to compose for either two to four instruments or for voice and up to three instruments.

It is the third year that the Young Composer competition takes place during the festival and it is the only one of its kind in Estonia. Kristel Kolkanen and Karl Tipp have been the winners of previous two competitions. Märt-Matis Lill, the Chairman of the Estonian Composers Union chairs the jury of the 2017 competition.
