The Arvo Pärt Centre has published a book entitled Gratefully. Heartfelt. With Love. Musical Greetings from Arvo Pärt to celebrate the composer’s 90th birthday. The book launch at the Arvo Pärt Centre on Wednesday, September 3, at 3 p.m. is open to all.
This bilingual Estonian–English book looks at a lesser-known side of Arvo Pärt’s creative work – the world of musical greetings. These short musical pieces were composed to congratulate, greet or thank friends, acquaintances and collaborators. The book brings together 78 musical greetings, many of which are visually striking and meaningful. Many of the greetings have also been specially recorded for this release.
The compilation was edited by Maarja Tyler, Karin Rõngelep and Ardo Västrik, with design by Angelika Schneider.
Its publication was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Estonia and the Estonian Cultural Endowment.
