Andres Uibo and Mari-Liis Uibo will perform in the Netherlands

Today, on February 3 at 8.15 pm, organist Andres Uibo and violinist Mari-Liis Uibo will perform at the Amsterdam Orgelpark. The program consists of pieces by Felix Mendelssohn, Arvo Pärt, Edgar Arro and Andres Uibo. Master course led by Andres Uibo will also take place.

Andres Uibo is the most outstanding Estonian organist who has given solo concerts in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Japan and elswhere. He has made 33 recordings as a soloist and with different ensembles. Uibo is the initiator and director of Tallinn Organ Festival since 1987. Currently he is working as the organist of Tallinn St. Nicholas’ Church, teacher in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and producer in State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert. He has been ascribed the annual prizes of Cultural Endowment of Estonia (1995, 1999). In 2001 he was awarded the Medal of the White Star and in 2006 the prize of Estonian Music Council.

Mari-Liis Uibo (1990) has studied in the Tallinn Music High School and continues now her studies in Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts under Prof. Gerhard Schulz. Uibo has achieved international recognition at many competitions: diplomas at the competition of young string instrument players of the Estonian String Teachers’ Association (2003, 2005), title of laureate at the young violinists competition in Trento (2004). In November 2007, Uibo with organist Ulla Krigul released CD Bernsteinstraße with Estonian music.
