Ain Anger at Vienna State Opera

On May 7 and 11 at 7.30 pm, Ain Anger will participate in Gioachino Rossini’s opera The Barber of Seville at the Vienna State Opera. The opera is directed by Richard Bletschacher and conducted by Stefan Soltesz. Together with Anger as Basilio, other leading roles are sung by Javier Camarena, Wolfgang Bankl, Vesselina Kasarova and Adrian Eröd.
On May 30 and June 3 and 6 at 5.30 pm, Ain Anger will play the part of Vogler at Richard Wagner’s opera Lohengrin, directed by Barrie Kosky and conducted by Leif Segerstam. Other leading roles are sung by Peter Seiffert, Soile Isokoski, Wolfgang Koch and Waltraud Meier.

Estonian bass Ain Anger studied singing at the Estonian Academy of Music (1992–1996) with Professors Ivo Kuusk, Virgilius Noreika and Mati Pelo. Additionally, he has attended courses by André Orlowitz, Nicolas Chrisou, Matti Lehtinen, Hans Georg Ahrens and Sena Jurinac. Anger started as a soloist at the Estonian National Opera in 1996. From 2002 to 2004 he was a soloist at the Leipzig Opera and since 2004 at Vienna State Opera. Guest engagements have taken him to the biggest opera houses and festivals in Europe. His concert repertoire includes a wide range of vocal chamber music and solo parts in vocal-symphonic music. His numerous opera roles include characters as Sarastro (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Die Zauberflöte), Bartolo (Mozart Le nozze di Figaro), Orest (Richard Strauss Elektra), Fafner (Richard Wagner Das Rheingold), Titurel (Wagner Parsifal), Fafner (Wagner Siegfried), Hunding (Wagner Die Walküre), Daland (Wagner Der fliegende Holländer), Pogner (Wagner Meistersinger) et al.
On this summer, Anger will also perform at Saaremaa Opera Days in Estonia.
