The Crossing chamber choir under Donald Nally has released a new album „The Tower and The Garden“ featuring the work „A Child Said, What Is the Grass?“ by Toivo Tulev. The text of the work is a setting of a poem by Walt Whitman, trying to answer a child's simple question, „What is the grass?“ concluding, „to die is different from what anyone supposed, and luckier.“ The work was commissioned and premiered by The Crossing at the annual festival of new choral music, The Month of Modern, in 2015.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, „A Child Said, What Is the Grass?“ creates distinctive musical symbolism with the composer's characteristically complex, high-style harmonies. The album also consists of commissioned works from Gregory Spears and Joel Puckett.
