Arvo Pärt Days 2017

Concerts of the festival dedicated to Arvo Pärt are taking place in Tallinn, Paide, Rakvere, Viljandi and Tartu from September 2 to11. The program of Arvo Pärt Days opening concert, performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, includes Arvo Pärt's works of both earlier and later period and creates a thematic bridge between the great Baroque master J. S. Bach and the latest work of a young Estonian composer Pärt Uusberg. YXUS Ensemble (Iris Oja - alto, Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann - piano, Harry Traksmann - violin, Laur Eensalu - viola, Leho Karin – cello) will perform Pärt’s chamber music. Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir with conductor Tõnu Kaljuste will perform once again Arvo Pärt’s most extensive choral work „Kanon pokajanen“. Belgian Goeyvaerts String Trio + gives a concert of music by Arvo Pärt and Ivan Moody. Festival will end with Arvo Pärt’s Birthday Concert performed by the British vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars. The artistic director of the festival is Tõnu Kaljuste.
