On February 24 at 2 pm, Haapsalu Cultural Centre in Haapsalu will be opened with concert where Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform under the guidance of young Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska. |

Poska, who currently lives in Germany, will make her debut with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra on Thursday. The program of the concert which will take place on the occasion of the anniversary of the Estonian Republic consists of Heino Eller’s Homeland Tune, Veljo Tormis’s Suite from the film Spring, Eduard Tubin’s Sinfonietta on Estonian Motifs and the first movement of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.
Kristiina Poska (1978) graduated from Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and Estonian Academy of Music in choral conducting. She improved her skills at Berlin University of Arts and Academy of Music Hanns Eisler in Berlin where she also studied orchestral conducting with Chrstian Ehwald. She has participated in many master classes of Eri Klas, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa and others. Poska has won the prize Dimitris Mitropoulos International Competition in Athen (2006), the first prize at Bergische Symphoniker Female Conductors’ Competition in Germany (2007) and reached the final with three best conductors at Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London (2010).
Since 2005, Kristiina Poska conducts Capella Academica, the symphony orchestra of the Humboldt University Berlin (since 2006, chief conductor). She has cooperated with Brandenburger Symphoniker, Orchestra of Colours (Athens), Bergische Symphoniker, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra and others and has been active as choral conductor (e. g. Berliner Staats- und Domchor, Collegium Musicum der Freie Universität Berlin, Frohnauer Kantorei). Additionally, Poska has also performed as opera conductor (Giacomo Puccini La Boheme, Jules Massenet Don Quichotte).
